5 Ways to Draw Closer to God After a Pause
We all go through phases in our life when we are not as close to God as we would like to be. This occurs for a myriad of reasons but it is a problem we can solve easily. If you have been away from the church for a week, a year, several years, or 70 years, this article is for you.
Attend a church service . Ask friends and family, neighbors and peers, and Facebook group for recommendations. Do not be afraid to try a few churches. Different services times might also have a different flavor and purpose.
Take time in the morning and night to read the word. Develop your own morning routine. I like to read a Joel Osteen book with a new prompt each day. Borrow a 📕 from the library to try this out.
Join a service group, community group, or other activity in your church. Churches offer a wide variety of opportunities to serve. Think outside the box for serving. What talents do you have ? Volunteer to cook meals for the elderly, visit a nursing home, or donate children’s clothing. There is so much to do! Matthew says in NKJV: “The harvest is truly plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the lots of the harvest to send laborers into His Harvest”
Find a spiritual mentor. Ask at your church about mentoring programs. Consider an online mentorship program.
Listen to podcasts or read 📚. Joel Osteen has an incredible podcast with practical tips. Joyce Meyer has several daily podcasts. Many people use the podcast app on their phone to search for podcasts that are relevant to their life.
I hope that you find these tips helpful in your journey with God. As always, take time to reflect on the process and explore what works in your life.
