5 Money Lessons For Parents
Children hear money messages at a very young age. Even as early as the age of 2. Yes, two, this was not a misprint. Think of the many ads that toddlers see on television, ipads, and more!
Consider money education as a life long journey with your children. Invest in your children with time, education, and money.
Start early and often. Begin talking to your children at a young age. For example a toddler may ask for a piece of candy in the grocery store. Turn this around and say , “We can’t buy candy today because we have to buy food for our families.”
Involve your children in a discussion about money about a fun topic. For tweens and teens, they will understand the price differences if it is broken down for them. My favorite vacation is Disney World so we can use that one as an example.
Value of money vs time. Teach your children about how we can use money to save time. An example would be paying someone to cut your lawn.
Open up a bank account at a local branch
Help them explore ways to make money, (yard sale, paper route)
Keep a money journal . Track your spending and every purchase.
